چکیده

Abstract Wood modification is an excellent way to improve material properties, prolong service life, and pave the for new applications timber in built environment. The aim of this study establish influence wood species process with phenol urea formaldehyde resin. Seven hardwoods four softwoods were compared identical treatment. Since main variable, provides a clear insight as its on modification—something not previously investigated. Small blocks all eleven impregnated low-molecular weight resin subsequently heat-cured at 150 °C. Mass dimensions specimens carefully monitored throughout three cycles oven-drying water-soaking determine anti-swelling efficiency, bulking coefficient, swelling coefficient. results showed relationship between density, bulking-, coefficients. Beyond well-known it was observed that similar density (e.g., lime sycamore) had significantly different coefficients efficiencies. Reasons these differences, which are independent discussed. soaking solution analysed nature leached substances showing correlation amount leachate UV-absorbance (272 nm) solution.

Effect of Modification with Phenol Formaldehyde Resin on the Mechanical Properties of Wood from Chinese Fir

Samples of Chinese fir were treated with either low-molecular-weight or commercial phenol-formaldehyde (PF) resins. The macroand micromechanical properties of the treated and untreated samples were determined. The average longitudinal tensile modulus of elasticity (MOE) was 30.88% larger for the samples treated with the low-molecular-weight PF resin than it was for the untreated samples. The av...

Influence of hydrothermal treatment on the dimensional stability of beech wood

Hydrothermal treatment of wood material products with many interesting properties such as enhanced dimensional stability, lower equilibrium moisture content and increased biological durability. The effects of hydrothermal treatment on dimensional stability, oven dry density and water absorption of beech wood (Fagus Orientalis) naturally grown, has been studied in present research that extremely...

the influence of the neo-platonic concept of poetic imagination on wordsworth’s poetry

Preparation and Characterization of Novolak Phenol Formaldehyde Resin from Liquefied Brown-Rotted Wood

The brown-rotted wood was liquefied in phenol with phosphoric acid as catalyst and the resulting liquefied products were condensed with formaldehyde to yield novolak liquefied wood-based phenol formaldehyde resin (LWPF). The results showed that brown-rotted wood could be more easily liquefied than sound wood in phenol. The residue content of liquefied wood decreased continually with the progres...

Microstructural and Micromechanical Characterization of Modified Urea-Formaldehyde Resin Penetration into Wood

Characterization of the adhesive penetration behavior in wood is highly desired for optimizing the manufacturing processes and product properties. In this study, modified urea-formaldehyde (UF) adhesive was used to prepare glued laminated timber (Cryptomeria fortunei Hooibrenk). The depth of gross penetration was measured by fluorescence microscopy (FM), which showed the UF passed through 1.5 t...
